13 Things to Do This Fall in Lubbock & Around the Hub City
There’s just something about fall in Lubbock. Maybe it’s the first morning when you can finally open the windows without sweating through your coffee. Maybe it’s football on the TV, pumpkins on the porch, kids running around in costumes, or that first cozy drink that makes you feel like you’ve officially survived another West Texas summer.
And as a mom who lives here and a local Realtor, one of my favorite things about fall is finding little ways to actually enjoy where we live. Because yes, I love helping people find a beautiful home but I also love helping people discover the life that happens outside those four walls.
So grab your calendar, round up the kids (or your girlfriends!), and save this list because I put together 10 of my favorite fall things to do in and around Lubbock this season. And the best part? You don't have to drive hours away to get that cozy fall feeling. 🍁
1. Get Lost at At’l Do Farms
If you have kids, this one is basically mandatory.
At'l Do Farms is one of those Lubbock fall traditions that just feels like childhood.
This year's season runs from September 12 through November 7, with the famous corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, Pumpkin Hollow, sunflowers, the Fairy Tale Trail, cow train, barnyard animals, corn pit and more.
Mom tip: Go later in the afternoon and stay into the evening. You get the golden-hour photos and the nighttime fall atmosphere.
And yes, buy the kettle corn.

2. Pick Your Own Pumpkin at T&J Farms
Want something a little more low-key?
T&J Farms - Pumpkin Patch & Honey Farm is just south of Lubbock and offers a classic pumpkin-patch experience on weekends throughout October.
Pick your pumpkin, take the obligatory family pictures, let the kids run around and enjoy the fact that you didn't have to plan an elaborate weekend getaway.
Sometimes the best fall memories are the simple ones.
3. Walk the Pumpkin Trail at the Arboretum
One of my favorite things about Lubbock is that we have traditions that are completely free.
The 18th Annual Pumpkin Trail returns October 15–18 at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum.
Think decorated pumpkins, lights, fall displays and an easy stroll that works well for families.
It’s also stroller- and wheelchair-friendly, which gets major mom points in my book.
And it's FREE.
That's a pretty hard combination to beat.
4. Check Out Mo’s Autumn Festival
Mark your calendar for September 26.
Mo’s Autumn Festival brings together local vendors, makers and that laid-back fall-market atmosphere that makes you want to put on a cardigan—even if it’s still 85 degrees outside.
Because West Texas fall doesn't always cooperate with the outfit.
We wear the boots anyway.
5. Head to Wolfforth for a Fall Market Morning
Just outside Lubbock, Wolfforth Farmers Market is another great spot to add to your fall Saturday rotation.
Think local food, baked goods, vendors and that small-town/community feeling.
We love the Wolfforth Farmers Market, they always have themed fun weekends!
6. Spend an Afternoon at a Local Vineyard
Fall is harvest season, which makes it a perfect time for a vineyard date.
Joshua Farm and Vineyard is located just north of Lubbock and offers a relaxed farm-and-vineyard setting.
Grab your husband, your girlfriends or just go enjoy a quiet afternoon without anyone asking you for a snack every 11 minutes.
Moms deserve fall dates too. 🍷
7. Take Yourself to First Friday Art Trail
First Friday Art Trail is one of those Lubbock traditions I think everyone should experience at least once.
Walk around downtown, check out local artists, pop into galleries and shops, grab something to eat and let yourself wander.
You don't need a big plan.
Just show up.
8. Make a Texas Tech Football Saturday Out of It
Fall in Lubbock isn't complete without some Red Raider football.
Even if you aren't going to the game, there's something fun about making a whole Saturday around it.
Wear your red, grab food somewhere local, meet friends downtown and enjoy the energy that takes over the city.
This is one of those things that makes Lubbock feel like a community rather than just a place you happen to live.
9. Let the Kids Go All Out at Adventure Park's Fall Festival
On October 3, Adventure Park is hosting a Fall Festival with vendors, games, train rides, crafts, live music, farm animals and pumpkins.
It's basically a fall carnival for the kids.
And if you're anything like me, you'll probably end up taking 47 pictures and buying something you absolutely did not need.
That's part of the experience.
10. Do the Spooky Science Carnival
For families with younger kids, the Science Spectrum is getting in on the Halloween fun too.
Science Spectrum & OMNI Theater hosts its Spooky Science Carnival October 30, with creepy critters, science experiments, carnival games and spooky but not too scary fun.
Perfect for the kid who wants Halloween without actually being terrified.

11. Take the Kids to Old MacDonald's Petting & Family Fun Farm
Old MacDonald’s Petting and Family Fun Farm on the north side of Lubbock is another great option when you're looking for something outdoors with the little ones.
Animals, outdoor play and plenty of opportunities for kids to burn off some energy.
Translation:
They may actually sleep that night.
Totally WORTH IT.
12. Do Halloween Downtown
Halloween doesn't have to mean sitting at home handing out candy.
On October 31, Mo's Monster Mash takes over the Depot District with a free family trunk-or-treat from 5–7 PM, followed by a Halloween night market, live music, food, vendors and more.
Dress the kids up.
Dress yourself up.
Or just wear a cute sweater and call it a costume.
No judgment here.
13. Have a "Fall Day in Lubbock"
And finally?
Don't overthink it.
Pick a Saturday and make your own fall itinerary.
Start with coffee.
Go to a local market.
Grab lunch.
Visit a pumpkin patch.
Take family pictures.
Let the kids run around.
Stop for something sweet.
Watch the sunset.
Go home, put on pajamas and order pizza.
Because sometimes the best part of living somewhere isn't the big attractions.
It's having a Saturday where you don't have anywhere you have to be.

That's one of the reasons I love Lubbock so much.
There are always new places to discover, local businesses to support, traditions to make and little pockets of community that make this city feel like home.
So here's your reminder:
Get out of the house.
Buy the pumpkin.
Take the pictures.
Go to the football game.
Try the new coffee shop.
Support the local maker.
Let the kids get dirty.
Make the Saturday plans.
Because this is the good stuff.
